R. H. "Bob" Henderson started moving houses at the age of 14 in 1934.He worked for his uncle who was R. O. Wood. They moved houses on wood timbers and wood rollers.Using this early method, they would drive an axle shaft down into the middle of the street and attach a set of rope falls. They would then hook a truck to the rope falls and proceed up the street. This company was known at the time as Wood House Moving.

Mr. Wood was the first mover in San Antonio to move a house on rubber tires. In the early 50's, Mr. Wood retired and R. H. Henderson took over and the company.Though the company was commonly known as Wood House Moving, it was gradually transitioning into doing business as Henderson House Moving.

During his ownership, there were many changes that took place.Large trucks were fitted with Tulsa winches and poles in order to lift houses.Step jacks were still the "bread and butter tool" for moving structures. Amazingly, they moved some very large buildings with very few tools.Mr. Henderson stayed in business 56 years until 1990.

In 1990, R. R. Bob Henderson took over.During the next first few years, many changes were being made such as the use of air bags along with better tucks and dollies. He was able to introduce his son, Quentin, to these new technologies and he quickly joined me at work when he had time away from school.Throuout his college years, Quentin always put aside time, gaining valuable experience in the field until he eventually graduated and became a full-time employee.Working together at Henderson House Moving, both of us share the same passion for structural moving as we did four generations ago. Based on our long history and experience in this business, we continually strive to make every move the safest and most effiecient for every customer.
